Black Arrow (Hetz Shahor) Monument in the Nahal Hanoun Forest

An impressive monument that overlooks the Jabalia and Gaza region and reminds us of the military legacy of the paratroopers and the days of retaliatory operations in the 1950s that lasted until Operation Kadesh (1956). The monument contains stone pillars bearing descriptions of the paratroopers' retaliatory actions and diagrams of the corps’ battles. The names of the brigade's fallen soldiers who fell in those operations are commemorated at the site. Next to the monument is the Armistice Commission building, where representatives of Israel and Egypt met from time to time to discuss issues of the day.

Adjacent to the monument is a recreation area named after Araleh (Aharon) Zuckerman, who was a member of Kibbutz Gevim. The site has picnic tables, water, a barbecue stand and restrooms. The recreation area is accessible to people with disabilities.

Directions: From Gevim junction (Route 34), turn onto Route 232 and drive towards Mefalsim. After about 3 km, turn right and follow the signs to the Black Arrow Monument.

Note: The site is close to the Gaza Strip. Please obey the instructions of the security forces.
