‘Salon Otef’ at the President’s Residence: Omri and Lishi Miran Share Their Story

President of Israel Isaac Herzog and his wife, Michal, hosted a “Salon Otef” gathering at the President’s Residence for the first time yesterday. “Salon Otef” is a series of testimony and remembrance gatherings led by 255, The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, in partnership with KKL-JNF.

2,500 residents of the Gaza Envelop (Otef Aza) region attended a memorial ceremony honoring October 7: “We will remember the massacre forever. We will remember, repair and rebuild Israel.” The rally, held at the Iron Swords Forest, was attended by members of kibbutzim and moshavim in the Western Negev, residents of southern cities, bereaved families, survivors of captivity, representatives of the security forces, KKL-JNF, Magen David Adom, and youth movements.
October 7 Survivors to Share Their Stories as Part of the ‘Salon Otef’ Project

This unique initiative, led by "255, The Hostages and Missing Families Organization", is taking place on a significantly larger scale this year. As part of the project, returning hostages, family members of hostages – both living and deceased – survivors of the massacre, family members whose loved ones were murdered, and members of the security and rescue forces will visit more than 450 locations across the country at the beginning of October. They will visit homes and communities and share their personal stories.

KKL-JNF Board of Directors approved (Sep 15) an investment of up to NIS 33 million to advance urban-renewal plans in municipalities located in Israel’s national priority areas, with an emphasis on communities along the Dead Sea Transform and peripheral cities, including Kiryat Shmona, Katzrin, Hazor HaGalilit, Safed, Tiberias, Beit She’an, and others identified as facing particular challenges.
