Unique open-air classrooms will be installed in schoolyards around Israel, which will be run by the students themselves. A group of students in each school, who form members of the school's student council, will run programs for the student body using the open classrooms. The program will be guided by KKL-JNF instructors.
The student leaders will become social leaders, “KKL-JNF trustees” among the student body, and they will disseminate leadership values among their friends, including ecological, Zionist responsibility and involvement.
Receiving a classroom is conditional on the school’s implementation of the educational program throughout the year and adhering to its aims and objectives. This is in order to preserve the classroom as a thriving, extracurricular, educational anchor.
The educational program implemented in the open classroom will give the student council representatives tools to guide and lead the student body of their school in regards to ecological, environmental and Zionist issues.
The leadership tools and the various directives will be given by KKL-JNF instructors to the members of the student council in a series of sessions, which will take place in the open classroom and in the schoolyard over the course of the year.
