Outside the Box - Educational Kit

In Brief

A workshop that focuses upon development of thinking 'outside the box' in order to build fascinating and fun educational activities. The workshop is conveyed with a special emphasis upon the core content of KKL-JNF and offers the participants a rich 'toolbox' – an advanced methods bank that enables you to create innovative and diverse activities, suitable for children of various ages and environments. During the activity, the participants learn step by step, via the Scamper indicator, the art of building an optimal, inspiring and significant educational program for the students. This is a wonderful opportunity to equip oneself with innovative tools, to develop advanced educational skills, and to become leading educational figures.
 
Goal of the Kit:
  • The participants will learn how to develop activities around the core values of KKL-JNF.
  • The participants will experience rich content activities in an enjoyable fashion.
  • The participants will acquire practical tools that will serve them in their educational positions in their countries of origin.

Course of the Activity:

Stage 1 – Introduction (20 minutes) - Building the Activity

  • Opening Instruction: Start by creating an "Association Sun" to define the topic and concept (Detailed instructions in the Full Guide).
  • Building the activity via the aids in this kit: a board for building activity "From Idea to Action", a pack of task cards and aids that will assist you in successfully building the activity –  methods bank, Scamper box, examples sheet, reflection cards, feedback cards.
  • Place the task cards in order on the board, in the designated places, and follow the instructions. On one side of the cards there is a profile and on the other side are the tasks you have to carry out. You have to fill out the activity building board and input the information in the appropriate place.
  • Presentation Preparation: Participants prepare a short marketing presentation describing the idea and the activity they created*.

Stage 2 – Implementation (40 minutes)

Thinking outside the box via the Scamper Model.
 
In front of you is an illustrated box, which presents a route for creative thinking according to the Scamper Model. The tasks you will be asked to perform will lead you to building a sample activity around a topic that interests you.

Stage 3 - Summary (10 minutes)

Summary via reflection cards.

Stage 4 - Presentations (20 minutes)

Present what you created via select presentations in the style of a TED Talk, before all the participants.
