In Brief

The program will bring participants together in a shared experience called Jerusalem, and will help them understand its complexity, its multifacetedness, its sanctity and its spiritual and symbolic significance to the Jewish people.

Goal of the Kit:
  • Recognition and appreciation of all of the facets of the heritage of the city of Jerusalem, while fostering a love for, and a personal connection to, the capital of the Jewish and democratic State of Israel and the capital of the Jewish people.
  • Familiarity with the cultural and historical aspects of the city of Jerusalem as a component and a source for the strengthening of the personal and national identity of the participants.
  • Understanding the significance and uniqueness of "Jerusalem Day" as a national holiday.
  • Dealing with the complexity of the city of Jerusalem after its unification - as a multi-faceted city of many contrasts; a city which is home to people of different nations, religions and cultures, obliging us to be tolerant, fair and mutually respectful.
  • Strengthening of the moral baggage for the responsible addressment of dilemmas and conflicts in a multi-cultural city and in a multicultural society.
  • Awareness of the affinity that exists between the "Heavenly Jerusalem" and the "Earthly Jerusalem", and Jerusalem as a symbol and Jerusalem in daily life.
