Assaf Siboni Scenic Lookout (Mitzpor Assaf Siboni)
Location: Near Kibbutz Nir Am, the Southern Coastal Plain.

Description: Assaf Siboni, a combatant in the Nahal Brigade, was killed in the Helicopter Disaster. On February 4, 1997, two Yasur helicopters crashed on their way to IDF outposts in the Security Zone in southern Lebanon. 73 IDF soldiers were killed in the disaster, which caused national mourning. The moving scenic lookout was erected in memory of Assaf, a son of Kibbutz Nir Am. Twenty wind chimes hung in the center of the scenic lookout play when the wind blow and their tune spreads at the top of the hill. Each wind chime represents one year of Assaf Siboni’s life. The scenic lookout affords one of the best views of the Gaza Strip, particularly of Jabalia.
