KKL-JNF has created the Yeruham Lake and planted the park surrounding it. It became an oasis at the Negev desert, drawing a large variety of birds during the migration seasons. In the past eight years, the non-profit birdwatching and ecology organization Duchifat has been active in the site, turning it into an Israeli birdwatching site.
KKL-JNF wings, in collaboration with Duchifat, provides sponsorship for the site, and plans to establish a ringing station, guidance, nighttime activities and many other birdwatching and ecology related activities at the site.
