The session took place during Israel's annual Local Government Conference, a leading forum that brings together local government leaders, decision-makers, professionals, and representatives from Israel's business and nonprofit sectors. Led by Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF) Chairman Eyal Ostreinsky and moderated by journalist Yoav Limor, the discussion brought together KKL-JNF's Board members and professional leadership, headed by CEO Ilan Shohat, alongside approximately 30 local authority heads, educators, nonprofit leaders, and representatives from the business and social sectors. The participants engaged in an in-depth professional dialogue aimed at identifying practical solutions to strengthen regional resilience, support local communities, and promote sustainable economic growth in northern Israel.
During the session, local authority leaders expressed deep appreciation for KKL-JNF Chairman Eyal Ostreinsky and the organization's leadership, thanking KKL-JNF for standing alongside northern communities throughout the crisis. They emphasized that KKL-JNF responded rapidly to urgent needs on the ground, provided immediate assistance and broad support to municipalities and residents, and became a key partner in helping communities navigate one of the most challenging periods in recent history. They noted that KKL-JNF's commitment during the crisis strengthened the spirit of partnership, mutual responsibility, and regional resilience.
KKL-JNF Chairman Eyal Ostreinsky said: "The rehabilitation of northern Israel is about much more than repairing the damage caused by the war – it is an opportunity to build a stronger, more resilient, and more prosperous region. Guided by this commitment, KKL-JNF is expected to invest approximately NIS 1.5 billion in 2026 to strengthen and develop communities across northern Israel. We will continue working in full partnership with local authorities and regional stakeholders, recognizing the North as a region of national importance and immense potential, while investing in infrastructure, development programs, and long-term initiatives that will help it thrive for generations to come."
Throughout the two-day conference, KKL-JNF also operated an interactive exhibition booth showcasing the organization's diverse activities across Israel. Through multimedia displays, photographs, videos, interactive quizzes, and educational experiences, visitors were introduced to the wide range of KKL-JNF's work in forestry, environmental stewardship, community development, education, and the rehabilitation of communities throughout the country.
