The Sdot (“Fields”) Neighborhood, featuring six semi-detached residential buildings constructed using green building methods, was inaugurated last Thursday. The neighborhood is expected to welcome new families who choose to join the kibbutz and make it their home.
Another new neighborhood, Eucalyptus, is currently under construction alongside Sdot. Four residential buildings are being built there, with construction expected to be completed within approximately three months. The neighborhood will also provide housing for new families joining the kibbutz.
KKL-JNF has invested approximately NIS 8.8 million in the construction of the two new neighborhoods, as part of its broader efforts to support and rehabilitate the communities in the Gaza border area that were most severely affected by the October 7 attack.
Since the outbreak of the war, KKL-JNF has worked alongside Kibbutz Nahal Oz on a range of assistance projects. Over the past three years, KKL-JNF has provided approximately NIS 2.5 million in donations and assistance, including support for the Nahal Oz authorities, a sports complex and a water reservoir. The investment in the two new neighborhoods represents another significant step in the effort to bring life back to the kibbutz and create the infrastructure needed for its renewed growth.

The assistance to Nahal Oz is part of a decision by the KKL-JNF Board of Directors in August 2025 to allocate NIS 124 million toward the rehabilitation of the 14 kibbutzim that were most severely affected by the October 7 attack, known as the “red kibbutzim.” The Nahal Oz project is being carried out in partnership with KKL-JNF, Kibbutz Nahal Oz, the Ministry of Construction and Housing, the Tekuma Directorate and the Sha’ar HaNegev Regional Council. It represents an example of cooperation aimed not only at repairing the damage caused by the war, but also at enabling the community to rebuild and the kibbutz to grow once again.

The neighborhood we are inaugurating today is much more than new homes. It is an opportunity for new families to arrive, for the community to grow stronger, and for the kibbutz to continue building its future. We are proud to be a driving force behind the return of life, families and children, and the building of a future precisely here.”
