EXPO Milano, the international world exhibition in Milan representing the cutting edge environmental technology of 145 countries, ran from the May 1st – October 31st under the banner 'Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life'.
EXPO Milano, the international world exhibition in Milan representing the cutting edge environmental technology of 145 countries, ran from the May 1st – October 31st under the banner 'Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life'. The Israel Pavilion was titled 'Fields of Tomorrow'. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and KKL-JNF run the Israeli pavilion, which attracted international media interest and millions of visitors from all over the world. The KKL-JNF compound at the pavilion detailed the organization's work in afforestation, restoring ecosystems, advancing food security and renewable energy, and combating desertification.

KKL-JNF, together with KKL Italy, held a wide variety of events and seminars detailing their work for people and the environment. The events focused on a wide range of topics of human and environmental interest, such as the philosophy behind the kosher diet, sustainable soil management, combating desertification, ancient desert agriculture, food security, rediscovering the ancient wines of Israel, the link between nutrition, the mind and the body and the connection between land and faith.

The culmination of the event was the drawing of the raffle to win a trip to Israel, which was open for visitors to the Israel Pavilion to join at no charge. The happy winner of the raffle, which was drawn on October 29, was Marta Frittella, age 37 from the Italian village of Terni.
