Summary

What is My Vision? Vision and Leadership – Social Dilemmas, Morality and Policy

This kit invites the participants to delve into the worlds of personal visions and public leadership, while becoming familiar with exemplary individuals and decisions that impacted history. Through games, personal writing and discussions on historical and current dilemmas with which leaders contended and contend, the participants will be exposed to the complexity of the issues and to their need to be aware of a variety of opinions and to take a personal stance when the time comes. The activity encourages every participant to formulate for himself a personal educational vision and to examine their place as a leader of change.

Goals of the kit

  1. Exposing the participants to the vision of prominent people and leaders.
  2. Providing the tools for formulating an independent vision.
  3. Discussing historical and current dilemmas for the purpose of encouraging complex thinking and a personal stance.

Course of the activity:

Stage 1 – Opening (25 Minutes): Vision Wall, Opening Game and Sayings

The guide sets up "the Vision Wall", the participants write their personal vision in an associative manner, participate in a ball tossing game while stating the names of visionary leaders, and choosing a saying with which they identify from the card of sayings of these individuals.

Stage 2 – Discussion (20 Minutes): What happened to my vision?

After reading an excerpt from "Alice in Wonderland", we will hold a discussion on personal directions and vision creation. Each participant will write an educational vision in accordance with the guidelines, and is invited to share with the group.

Stage 3 – The Core Activity (45 Minutes): Debate

The groups will participate in a debate for and against historical or current dilemmas, on the basis of prepared dilemma cards. Each group prepares a short speech and then votes as a group.

Stage 4 - Conclusion (5 Minutes):

A concluding conversation on the power of vision.As future leaders, we must define what our vision is and how we are interested in acting towards its fulfillment, what are our red lines and what are we willing to compromise on, what strength we have within ourselves and what do we aspire to accomplish.
