While this initiative is held annually ahead of Passover, this year it is taking place amid the war with Iran, as rocket fire and sirens continue across the country. As a result, KKL-JNF has expanded the initiative to include families affected by the situation, evacuees, and reservists in need of financial support.
Farmers from across Israel joined the KKL-JNF Workers Union, donating food baskets and fresh agricultural produce to help families in need prepare for the holiday. The organization’s employees gathered in the Southern Region to sort, pack, and distribute hundreds of baskets nationwide, with a special focus on families in northern communities near the border, cities heavily affected by rocket fire, as well as southern communities and military units.
“The Passover food basket initiative is a long-standing tradition for us, and we won’t give up on it, not even during days of rocket fire and sirens,” said Yisrael Goldstein, Chairman of the KKL-JNF Workers Committee. “In times like these, it’s important for us to act with responsibility and mutual support, ensuring aid reaches those who need it most. This year, we placed special emphasis on families in need in communities near the border and cities across Israel that have been particularly affected by rocket fire, so they too can celebrate the holiday with dignity.”
The initiative is dedicated to the memory of the late Prosper Kadosh Z"L, coordinator of KKL-JNF's liaison with the southern local councils, who was one of the initiative's key supporters.
