Rare bird sighting in Rosh Tzipor – Tel Aviv

The Caucasian Willow Warbler, native to the regions of Georgia and Armenia, was spotted in KKL-JNF’s Rosh Tzipor Birding Center in Ganei Yehoshua, situated in the heart of Tel Aviv. It is extremely rare in Israel, with only four such birds ever recorded in the country.

KKL-JNF Chief Ornithologist Yaron Charka, whose team ringed the bird, said: “The KKL-JNF Wings Center at Rosh Tzipor has proven once again to be a magnet for an extraordinary variety of migratory birds, offering them a high-quality stopover station in the urban desert of the Dan Region. Willow warblers, tiny leaf-colored birds, often migrate tremendous distances — and this particular species comes all the way from the Caucasus.”
