Senior officials from KKL-JNF participated in the ceremony and expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the president's visit to The Grove of Nations and the thriving relationship between the countries. They emphasized their will to expand and strengthen cooperation in the fields of knowledge and technology, among other things, as part of the fight against the climate crisis and the development of agriculture in semi-arid areas.
Ms. Ronit Boytner, a member of the KKL-JNF Board of Directors gave a speech at the ceremony: "This olive tree that we will plant today, here, at the KKL-JNF's Grove of Nations, also symbolizes the connection between our countries that keeps on growing. As we plant these trees today, we are not only creating a legacy for future generations, but we are also making a profound statement about our commitment to the environment". After the ceremony she added: "We are proud that the president decided to come and plant a tree of peace and unity in The Grove of Nations, where leaders plant a tree in the land of Israel".
As part of his visit, the President of Zambia visited important historical and Zionist sites. Today the president visited the Yad Vashem Museum and The Grove of Nations next to it and met with the President of Israel, Mr. Isaac Herzog.
Head of Marketing and International Relations at the KKL-JNF, Mr. Moshe Iluz said: "We welcome the President of Zambia and his entourage visiting Israel. We have a joint and international goal to fight and deal with the climate crisis and together we can do wonderful things. The tree that the president planted today on the soil of Israel symbolizes the deep connection we all have with this earth and the hopes of collaboration between the nations, that are invested in working together to achieve a more sustainable future for our remarkable globe."
