Family Activities: Celebrate Tu BiShvat at the KKL-JNF Forests

KKL-JNF invites you to celebrate the holiday in its forests and parks with a wide variety of family activities

Lea Fadida, KKL-JNF Public Relations Director: "In celebration of Tu BiShvat, KKL-JNF offers a wide variety of activities all throughout Israel. We invite the public to arrive at the KKL-JNF forests and enjoy the activities while taking part in an Israeli tradition, and wish everyone a happy Tu BiShvat."
 
Tu BiShvat Seder
At the holiday's eve, on February 5, the public is invited to a special holiday event, which includes holiday blessings along with stories and the best holiday and Israeli songs, and a feast of Israeli fruits.
At the Gilat Nursery, featuring the Great Tisch, on 17:00
At the Hula Lake, featuring Einat Saruf, on 18:30
At the Givatayim Theatre, hosted by Yossi Alfasi and featuring Yehuda Alias, on 19:00
Ticket price is 30 ILS per participant, KKL+ members are entitled to a free ticket for two.

The KKL-JNF Happy Truck
The KKL-JNF Green Truck will journey through Israel from north to south and will stop at hospitals, nursing homes, military bases, hostels, city centers, villages and other locations. At every stop, the public is invited to a musical celebration which includes public singing, the KKL-JNF Quiz, meeting costumed figures, a photography post and gifts for participants. Plant and Go
Come planting trees during the holiday in KKL-JNF's forests and parks! It's a free activity that requires no registration.
Southern Israel: Hatzerim Forest – Friday, February 3 from 9:00 to 13:00
 
 
A Celebration at the Nursery
Meet the lifecycle of the plant, from the collection of the seeds to way from the nursery to the forest, in a special day of attractions.
Central Israel: at the Eshtaol nursery, from Wednesday February 22 to Sunday, February 26.

Northern Israel: at the Golani nursery, due to rains, this activity has been postponed to February 2-3.

Planting Ceremonies
 
Southern Israel:
Lahav Forest – a special planting ceremony celebrating co-existence with the Bedouin population, in collaboration with the ministry of education, including musical activities. Monday, February 13, at 10:00.
Hatzerim Forest – planting ceremony in collaboration with government ministries. Monday, February 6, from 11:00 to 14:00.
Omer Forest – planting ceremony for the public. Friday, February 3, including a stage play and musical shows.

Mermorial ceremony in Naharaim, due to rains, this activity has been postponed to February 19.

Wandering in Shvat:
In Celebration of Tu Bishvat, KKL-JNF holds tours centered on special trees, nurseries and burned forests. The tours are a chance to learn about forest rehabilitation by KKL-JNF foresters.
 
"Black to Green"
  • A Trip through the Carmel Forests, Friday, January 20, at 10:00
    In Celebration of the holiday, we will tour breathtakingly beautiful landscapes, where a great fire broke out in 2010 and became a national disaster. We will hear about how the Carmel became green again, and how the next fires will be prevented.
  • A Trip through the Tzora Forest and Eshtaol Nursery, Monday, January 23, at 9:30
    In Celebration of the holiday, we will tour the Tzora Forest, hear about forest fires that took place in the area and about the forest rehabilitation, as well as KKL-JNF's activities to prevent the next forest fires.The trip will conclude with a visit at the Eshtaol Nursery in which we will get acquainted with the plant's lifecycle, from the seeds in the nursery to the forest.
 
"From Here On, Everything Grows"
 
  • From Seed to Plant at the Ben-Shemen Forest, Friday, January 27 at 10:00
    In celebration of the holiday, we invite you to a fascinating meeting with the KKL-JNF Seeds Division. In this meeting, we'll learn of the KKL-JNF "Alpinists" unit, whose members climb high trees to collect the best seeds, see how seeds are preserved, and conclude with a tour through the Ben-Shemen Forest.
  • Song of the Trees at the Ilanot Forest, Friday, February 3 at 9:30
    A special tour through the unique forest, which a home to 350 tree species. The tour tells the story of these trees, in tales and songs.For adult travelers.
  • A Trip to the Old Oak at the Beit Keshet Forest and a Visit to the "Plant Factory", Friday, February 3 at 10:00 - the event is canceled, messages were sent to registered travelers.
    In celebration of the holiday, we will travel through the landscape road at the Beit Keshet Forest where we'll meet the Old Oak, and visit the "Plant Factory" at the KKL-JNF nursery in Golani. We'll hear of the "Seed to Plant" process, what the growing trees are meant for, what's their special traits and what makes the nursery a home for grown trees.
Lemons' Trail
  • A Tour at the Meitar Forest, Friday, February 10 at 10:00
    We'll go on a roundtrip through the Meitar Forest landscape road in the Lemons' Trail and hear about the importance of the forest and the challenge in growing trees where the rainfalls are few and the soil does not collect water. We'll meet the "Limans" – KKL-JNF's solution for these challenges.
