KKL-JNF will participate in this year's UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and will present the other participating countries with the knowledge and technologies it developed in the fields of forestry, agriculture and water, as well its collaborations with countries and organizations all over the world. This year's convention takes place in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, between November 7 and November 18, and tens of thousands of participants, among them heads of state, senior ministers from different countries and climate professionals are expected to come.

Since 2007, KKL-JNF participates as part of the Israeli delegation to the convention, and in 2009, it became an official member at the UN Climate Change Forum as an observant party.

Participation in the world-renowned convention places KKL-JNF, which is a part of the Israeli delegation, as a leading global environmental organization that contributes to the global fight against the climate crisis. The convention, which takes place in another country every year, includes lectures, panels and varied discussions about professional subjects to strengthen the preservation of the environment, develop sustainability, and deep handling of the climate crisis.

During the convention, KKL-JNF staff members, along with official representatives from other countries, will deliver lectures about fighting forest fires and present the advanced systems for detection and prevention of fires that hurt nature and biodiversity in hot areas that do not enjoy a large volume of precipitation.

In a special event about forest fires, KKL-JNF representatives led by KKL-JNF Chief Forester Dr. Gilad Ostrovsky will present long-term plans to reduce and prevent countrywide forest fires, in theory and practice. In another event, KKL-JNF will present the extensive forestry works to preserve and rehabilitate agricultural soils in the northern Negev Desert, alongside opportunities for stream-based urban forestry as means of handling climate change and the environmental crisis.

KKL-JNF, the government of The Republic of Chad and the international organization CABI will hold lectures about collaborations in sharing knowledge and technology for the development of agriculture and water in semi-dry areas. Fruitful collaborations between KKL-JNF and the Chad government have been taking place for a while now, focusing on knowledge sharing and collaboration for the development of agriculture throughout the Republic of Chad, development of advanced and efficient agriculture and improvement of the quality of life for villagers in the African state.

In addition, KKL-JNF and the EcoOcean organization will present its activity in Israel and its collaboration with different countries on agriculture in semi-dry areas, management of water reservoirs and planting methods for durable forests that preserve and develop biodiversity. Innovative methods for fighting pests and preserving seeds for upgrading the natural environment will also be presented.

Avraham Duvdevani, Chairman of KKL-JNF: "KKL-JNF will continue to lead in the struggle against the climate crisis. I'm proud of the knowledge and technology gathered by the organization throughout the years, that came to benefit the citizens of Israel, and of the results that can be seen on-site. It is thanks to KKL-JNF that Israel is a leading country in planting trees and durable forests that assist in the fight against the climate crisis. In the past few years, KKL-JNF has opened its gates and conducted discussions and collaborations with different countries to pass knowledge and technologies for the benefit of everyone. We are glad to take place in the this prestigious convention, where we meet the leading people and organizations in the field. Together, we will work to make a change for all of us."
