Mladenov, Bulgaria’s former Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defense, served as a UN special coordinator since 2015, Mladenov has participated in the Middle East peace process since he served as a UN representative in Iraq.

In keeping with the tradition of KKL–JNF ceremonies, the participants planted a tree at Yad Kennedy. KKL–JNF Vice Chairman Amir Schneider spoke at the ceremony: “when you plant a tree you’re not thinking of your own needs but of tomorrow’s needs, because this is a tree that will grow in the future and establish roots. These are actually the needs of your children and grandchildren. Just like the work you’ve done here in the Middle East”.
