In honor of the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Israel’s capital city, KKL-JNF will mount a remarkable and exciting exhibition entitled Memorable Moments. The exhibition will take place in Jerusalem’s Safra Square from May 21st until June 11th, and it will be open to the general public free of charge.
In preparation for Jerusalem Day and in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the city’s reunification, KKL-JNF will present a unique exhibition in Safra Square that will display giant photographs of Jerusalem as it was in 1967, after the Six-Day War.
The exhibition will portray unique moments from those early days, weeks and months after the city was reunited. Many focus on the Western Wall: the first wedding at the site; prayers there prior to the creation of the now-familiar large Western Wall plaza; soldiers dancing the hora beside the Wall; and prayers at the Wall before Tisha B’Av. Forgotten scenes of the ruined Jewish Quarter will also be on view.
These pictures, which form part of KKL-JNF’s remarkable photographic archive, will be printed in a giant 5x2-meter format and displayed on the walls of the Jerusalem Municipality in Safra Square. The public is invited to view them free of charge.
On May 24th KKL-JNF will conduct tours of the principal sites of Jerusalem in 1967, as viewed through the lens of KKL-JNF photographers. The tours will be free of charge, and many of these same sites appear in pictures that form part of the exhibition described above. The tours will depart at 16.00 and 19.00 from the National Institutions Building on King George Street and pass through Safra Square and sites in the Jewish Quarter before arriving at the Western Wall Plaza.
Please sign up for the tours using KKL-JNF’s Forest Hotline on 1-800-350-550.
