Lahav Forest Recreation Areas

Lahav Forest, one of the largest KKL-JNF forests, is located at the edge of the desert. The forest covers more than 25,000 dunams and is rich in nature sites as well as historical and heritage sites. KKL-JNF developed roads in the forest, prepared recreation areas and planted orchards of fruit trees. In the heart of the forest is the Joe Alon Center – a museum and center that introduces visitors to the Bedouin heritage in the area. On the eastern edge of the forest, near Kibbutz Lahav, is Hurvat Rimon (Rimon Ruins), which contains the remains of an ancient synagogue from the Byzantine period. On the western edge of the forest is Khirbet Abu Hof (Abu Hof Ruins), with the remains of two churches from the same period. There are open pits that pose a danger to hikers in the area of the churches.
