Shokeda Community Forest

The Shokeda Community Forest offers a spectacular bloom of anemones in February. The forest also contains a historical Antilia well that has been restored, and next to it is a recreation area and benches that create a kind of "amphitheater" for group seating and performances. In the forest, bicycle paths that are extremely challenging, suitable for skilled riders only, are marked in red.

The forest has three recreation areas with picnic tables, drinking water and barbecue stands.

Access to HaBe’er Recreation Area: Drive from Urim Junction towards Be'eri. On the right side of the road, next to the "Havat Niram" sign, turn right and drive on the agricultural road for about a km, until you reach the access road to the recreation area. The site is not disabled-accessible.

Access to HaKalaniot Recreation Area: Drive on the access road to the village of Shokeda (Route 2422). After about 4.5 km, turn right onto the forest’s scenic road in Shokeda. The recreation area has many tables, some of which are wheelchair-accessible.

Bor Marva Recreation Area: A recreation area built by KKL-JNF near a water cistern from the Byzantine period, constructed out of mud bricks. The top of the pit is exposed above ground because the earth around it has been swept away. In February, anemones bloom in spectacular swathes next to the recreation area. The site commemorates Marva Babian, a member of Kibbutz Alumim.

Directions: The dirt road to the Marva recreation area begins at Route 222 eastward, directly opposite Kibbutz Alumim. The road reaches the recreation area after a few hundred meters.
