Opening the Yad Mordechai Single Track

May 2025

On the morning of Friday, May 9, 2025, a gathering began near the starting point of the Yad Mordechai single track in the northern Negev. The weather was pleasant, and the atmosphere was quiet and everything was ready for the event. About 80 riders from all over the country – from Migdal HaEmek, Afula, Rosh Ha'Ayin to Dimona – came to take part in this festive opening event.

The "Southern Riders" and "Northern Negev Riders" groups – who are the trustees of the KKL-JNF's bicycle trails – not only participated in the event, but accompanied the trail during the preparation stages. They contributed their knowledge and experience with suggestions for improving the route, and greatly helped spread the word to cycling communities throughout the country.

The volunteers' contribution to organizing the ceremony was greatly appreciated. They helped with the preparations, accompanied the course of the event, and took care of the small details that helped make the day successful and pleasant for all the participants.

The riders set off, each according to their own pace and ability. The new single, with a total length of about 20 km, consists of three rings that allow adaptation to different levels of riding.

After the ride, the participants gathered at the Navia Mar'i recreation site, for explanations about the growing network of bicycle paths suitable for all ages and levels.

Afterwards, words of congratulations and appreciation were heard from representatives of the cycling groups, who expressed their deep gratitude to the KKL-JNF for their support and close relationship with the cycling community in southern Israel.

The event ended with a light and delicious breakfast in the open air. In the center of the parking lot, a roll-up was placed calling on participants and the general public to join the circle of KKL-JNF volunteers and work for the field of cycling and nature in Israel.
