Forester's House Lookout

Hebrew name: Metzudat Yaaranim

Location:
Yatir Forest

Description:
The Forester's House was inaugurated in April 19th, 1967, and was designated to serve as headquarters to the Yatir Forest professional crew, as well as a residential area for forest employees and their families. In those days, the forest was close to the armistice line between Israel and the Kingdom of Jordan, and therefore the building was built as a fortress, on a high location, commanding its environment (687 meters). Forester's House keeps on serving the Yatir Forest employees, but they do not live there anymore.
The tourists are invited to mount the fortress's roof and enjoy a magnificent view of its surroundings. Near the fortress and on the road to Yatir Forest, KKL-JNF has prepared numerous picnic and recreation areas. From the fortress one could use a private car to tour the eastern landscape road of Yatir Forest, which provides observatory spots over the Judean Desert and Arad Valley.

Directions: Via road 316, which branches out northwards from the Arad-Shoket Junction road (road 31).
