Since last Rosh Hashanah, the population of Israel grew by 150 thousand people, a 1.6% increase.
The Jewish population is 6.841 million (74.0% of the population), the Arab population 1.946 million (21.0%), and there are around 459 thousand non-Arab Christians and people unclassified by religion (5.0%) in the population register.
Over the year, about 170 thousand babies were born and 44 thousand people died.
Immigration increased the population by 25 thousand people. Around 20 thousand of them were new immigrants.
According to forecasts of the Central Bureau of Statistics, by 2025 to 2030, the number of people living in Israel is expected to exceed 10 million.
