The kit offers fascinating information on ornithology, birds, and advanced forest management with special emphasis on biodiversity and ecological management. This is a rare opportunity to gain an insight into KKL-JNF’s important work in development and nature conservation in Israel. The kit contains of a set of magnificent illustrations of the birds of the Land of the Bible, combining the zoological-scientific aspects of birdlife and of today’s ornithology. It includes well-known Biblical stories fundamental to Jewish culture and western civilization in general. Also in the kit is a variety of educational activities for all ages - kindergarten to inquisitive adults. Through play, art and creativity, the participants will become better-acquainted with the birds of the land, they will learn the art of birdwatching and observation, and they will bond with nature in Israel. This kit combines information with an exciting journey through time and nature.
 
 
 

Goal of the Kit:

  1. Introduction to ten birds mentioned in the Bible and in the Land of Israel’s natural environment
  2. Connection between the natural environment and the Jewish culture and heritage
  3. Development of curiosity, observation skills and drill-down into the characteristics of the various birds
  4. Development of the values of nature and wildlife conservation
  5. Stimulation of critical thinking, creativity and openness to new experiences

Activity Summary:
An activity combining creativity and observation for preschoolers. An introduction to the ten birds through a personal workbook, games and binoculars of their own making.

Story Hour

Activity Summary:
Through stories, parables and verses from the Bible, we shall embark on a cultural journey following the birds of the Bible, connecting between the bird's characteristics and human values.

Activity Summary:
A field activity inviting the children to use their senses, to identify birds through their unique characteristics, and to create devices for conservation and attracting birds to the nearby surroundings.

  3. For origami: blank papers, preferably colorful
  4. For a honeysuckle birdfeeder: plastic sheets, scissors, pages with flowers printed on them, stapler, corrugated plastic sheeting (Polygal), empty plastic bottle, electric screwdriver, skewers, sugar, funnel
  5. For a pinecone birdfeeder: pinecone, water cup, seeds
  6. For pasting including feathers: pages, glue, feathers

    Birds on the Brain

    Activity Summary:
    An in-motion activity involving identification, based on fun competitive games aimed at identifying birds by their characteristics from the posters.

    Target Audience:
    Second to fifth grades.

    Pecking

    Activity Summary:
    A fun game, consisting of stations with various sources of food, through which we consider the different bill structures of the various birds and how that affects the ability to feed them. From this we will learn their role in the general ecology.

    Target Audience:
    Second to fifth grades.

    Lions in Jerusalem

     Activity Summary:
    The students drill down into the interrelationship between birds and man, and examine the impacts of human activity on the avian world, through developing an environmental campaign to save the species.

      On the Wings of Eagles

       Activity Summary:

      "Havier" Birds of the Land of the Bible

       Activity Summary:
      A cellular navigation game in which the players look for stations with pictures of birds from the kit, solve questions and take pictures - all through the "Havier" application. The tasks require teamwork and creative thinking. They combine fun and games with knowledge thought.
