During Operation Protective Edge, KKL-JNF supported local residents by installing portable bomb shelters and organizing activities in bomb shelters for the children along with relief tours to northern Israel. Now that the war is over, there is a need to rehabilitate green areas that were damaged during the fighting.

Ever since the huge Carmel Forest fire that took place in December 2010, KKL-JNF has been involved in rehabilitation efforts, cooperating with organizations in determining how to assist natural processes and how to prevent fires in the future.

KKL-JNF manages 51% of the area threatened by the shale oil testing, including sensitive areas of forest and natural woodland of great scenic and ecological importance. In the words of KKL-JNF World Chairman Efi Stenzler: “We have invested heavily in the Adulam region in order to conserve and develop its parks and forests. These lands are not for sale, and they can never be replaced."

As the third day of the 72 hour ceasefire between Israel and the terrorists from the Gaza Strip draws to an end, IDF spokespersons summed up the military operation to date. All during the fighting, KKL-JNF, with the help of its friends worldwide, supported the population of southern Israel by erecting over 190 prefab bomb shelters in communities on the border of the Gaza Strip and in Bedouin towns, organizing activities for children in bomb shelters, taking children and their families on relief trips to the north, and more.
