Over 1,400 bereaved families gathered yesterday and today (Thursday) to plant trees in memory of their loved ones at the newly established Iron Swords Forest.

In honor of Tu BiShvat, the Jewish New Year of Trees, Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael–Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF) is hosting events throughout Israel to mark the Festival of Trees in forests, parks, and communities nationwide, with this year seeing record-breaking participation.

The Jewish new year for trees, Tu BiShvat gained a new meaning in the early 20th century, and the tree-planting tradition that was renewed and adopted by the Zionist movement became a symbol of connection to the Land of Israel.

Just weeks after the horrific Bondi Beach terrorist attack in Sydney, a delegation of educators from Australia and South Africa arrived in Israel for a ten-day Educators Seminar led by Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael–Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF). The visit carried particular resonance, conveying a message of resilience, continuity, and commitment to Jewish education.
