KKL-JNF Reveals the Fashion Trends of Israeli Women in the 20th Century

In the field, in the factory and everywhere else, Israeli women wore the latest local fashion, which included headbands, scarfs, skirts and shorts – all according to the pioneering fashion standards. In celebration of Israel's Independence Day, the KKL-JNF photo archive is glad to share the nostalgic look of Israeli women, from the early 20th century to the 1960s.
Since its foundation, KKL-JNF has started to document the land and its landscapes, and the country's best photographers were sent to capture unusual moments. Among other things, the documented the pioneering men and women, the new towns and villages, and the fashion of the era.
 
Over the past 120 years, KKL-JNF took part in and experienced all the major events in the history of Israel. Documentation of rare moments can be found in the KKL-JNF's photo archive, a unique source of Israeli history.
 
Now, in celebration of Israel's Independence Day, the archive reveals the fashion trends that accompanied the women in Israel, since before the country's declaration of independence to the 1960s. From the headbands through the traditional Israeli "Tembel" hats to corduroy coats, in the fields and in children's overnight houses – the women of Israel had their own special style. Now, when vintage fashions become a thing, one can wonder if 100-year-old Israeli fashions are about to make a comeback.

This is a unique opportunity to learn a lot of the different periods that shaped the country through the pictures of the Israeli women and get know Israel of the past through moments captured in the cameras' lenses.
