Last weekend (5-6.11), in coordination and cooperation with KKL-JNF foresters and other staff in the area, the Shoham Regional Council introduced orange "Tamir" recycling bins for packaging in the Shoham Community Forest.
The new bins have been placed alongside the existing plastic bottle recycling containers and KKL-JNF’s new wheeled rubbish receptacles.
Shoham Community Forest is the first woodland to receive the bins, as Regional Council Chairman
Eitan Pettigrew explained:
“Shoham Forest is an
inseparable part of our community. Because of our residents’ commitment to separating rubbish and recycling, we realized that we would have to equip the woodland, too, with these orange bins. I call upon all those who visit the forest to keep it clean, discard their litter into the receptacles provided and place packaging in the orange bins for recycling.”

“KKL-JNF is delighted that a community like Shoham has connected so closely to a forest in Israel’s slender ‘waist’ region. A connection such as this guarantees the future of the woodland. A community that assumes responsibility and exerts itself for the benefit of the forest is showing us the best way to conserve Israel’s open spaces.”
