Mahal Camping Site - Rabin Park

The Mahal Camping Site is located about a kilometer south of the Sha'ar HaGai interchange, along the Burma Road. It is one of the central camping sites in the Jerusalem Hills region.

On the site: Picnic tables, some of which are wheelchair-accessible, drinking water, and campfire circles. Next to the camping site is the Mahal Memorial that commemorates the fallen oversea volunteers (who formed the Mahal program in the IDF), who fell in the War of Independence.

Nearby sites: The Burma Road descent leading to the Harel Scenic Lookout (Mitzpe Harel) (a route suitable for private cars), the Jeep Road that leads to the Masrek Nature Reserve, the Masrek, a hiking trail that ascends to Control Post 21, and the Command Post Ridge that overlooks Sha'ar HaGai, the Khan Sha'ar HaGai heritage site, and the Anne Frank Memorial in Nahal Kisalon.

Location: When coming from the direction of Bet Shemesh, turn right, straight into the camping site. From Sha'ar HaGai, turn right according to the signs pointing to the Mahal Memorial and Khan Sha'ar Hagai. After turning, continue under Highway 38 and turn left into the Camping Site.
