Research and Development Stations

Regional research and development stations are special administrative establishments for agricultural research and development in peripheral regions of highest national priority. Their primary aim is to aid agriculture to ensure and improve the profitability of their farms and the means of production available to them by developing new products, improving existing ones and improving and renewing agro-techniques for crops.

    KKL-JNF, under its general agricultural support, assists the regional R&D stations in implementing innovative methods for combating pests in order to reduce insecticide use. A significant tool for attaining this goal is disinfestation of the Mediterranean Fruit Fly by releasing sterile flies.
