Iron Forest Recreation Area

The Iron Forest covers about 1,300 dunams. The Iron Forest recreation area is located at the northern entrance to the forest. Running for about half a km on the path parallel to the road, KKL-JNF has built several groups of picnic tables, among which are also some that are wheelchair-accessible. The recreation area contains a combination of planted forest trees and wild trees. At the edge of the recreation area there is a stone table standing in the shade of an impressive Tabor oak tree. Scattered around the recreation area are trees painted blue with amputated branches. These are Tabor oak trees that grew in places that underwent land development and their transfer here was intended to save them from being destroyed.

Directions: A few hundred m east of the Iron Interchange (Route 65), turn south according to the signs to the Vered Quarry. To reach the recreation area, turn left, but due to a separation barrier on the road, you have to continue towards the quarry, turn around in a safe place and return to the turn-off.
