Meitar Forest

The Meitar Forest is located on the lower slopes of the Yatir Mountains, which rise about 450 m above sea level. The oldest part of the forest is in the north. The southern section is a mosaic of plots planted with lemons in between cultivated fields. The forest covers about 8,200 dunams. It is planted with pine trees, plots of pistachio trees, umbrella thorn trees, various kinds of eucalyptus trees and many other species.

KKL-JNF has prepared recreational recreation areas and scenic lookouts in the forest. A scenic road marked in green, negotiable for private vehicles, crosses the forest from north to south. It is about 13.5 km long, and passes through the recreation areas and the main sites of the forest.

Directions: The entrance to the scenic road through Meitar Forest is from Route 60, about 2 km north of the entrance to Kibbutz Kramim (about half a km before the Meitar crossing).
