Volunteering in the KKL-JNF Documents and Exhibits Archive in Jerusalem

Those interested in history, geography and deepening their knowledge of the land are invited to volunteer in KKL-JNF's archive and assist us in preserving and recording KKL-JNF's documents for future generations.

General information
The KKL-JNF archive is the body that preserves and records the documents that are sent out by the KKL-JNF administration and its various departments. Each document goes through a sorting process according to topic, is indexed, and then filed in the archive software as well as in a physical file. After about twenty years, the files are transferred to the Zionist Archive, where the historical materials of all Zionist institutions are preserved, including those of KKL-JNF.

What is there for volunteers to do?
We will be happy to add volunteers to the archive team who will assist in the following activities:
  • Registering books and documents in the KKL-JNF Archive
  • Sorting books by subject, listing them in a dedicated software program, putting them in containers and passing on lists to an external warehouse. All this with the aim of making the books accessible for use at KKL-JNF; sorting documents according to key words, filing, scanning documents and classifying them.
  • Taking care of and registering them in KKL-JNF files that are preserved in perpetuity in the Central Zionist Archives.
  • Physically caring for the files, replacing old containers, taking notebooks and maps out of files and preserving them. All this with the aim of enabling the files' exposure to the wider public twenty years after they were first opened.
