Beit Itab Ruins Scenic Lookout

Hebrew name: Hurvat Beit Itab

Location: American Independence Park, Jerusalem Mountains

Description: At the top of the Hurva (Hebrew for ruins), there is an observation deck, which offers one of the most beautiful views of the Jerusalem mountains. From here, you get a panoramic vista of the mountains of Hebron and Jerusalem, the lowlands and the coastal plain. The Hurva is built on the foundations of a Crusader castle, built of beautiful hewn stones. For hundreds of years, following the Crusader period, additional buildings were added, and their ruins are scattered around the area. At the foot of the Hurva, there is the Ein Hod spring surrounded by orchard trees.

Directions: From the Nes Harim Recreation Area, Route 3866. There is footpath of approximately one and a half kilometers that leads to the site.
